iStockA suspect has been arrested after a man was allegedly seen wielding an axe near Ayr beach.
Emergency services were alerted to reports of a man with a weapon at around 10.50am on Wednesday.
No injuries were reported in relation to the disturbance.
Officers charged a 48-year-old man in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.50am on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, officers received a report of a man in possession of a weapon in the Ayr beach area.
“There were no reports of any injuries.
A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection. He was released on an undertaking to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.”
