Officers were called to reports of an alleged serious assault on William Street around 6.45pm on Friday, February 21.
A 42-year-old had been injured and was taken to hospital.
A 45-year-old man was arrested by officers and has now been charged in connection with attempted murder.
He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, February 24.
