A suspect has appeared in court accused of an ammonia attack on a woman in Glasgow city centre.
Gwen Dempster, 51, allegedly assaulted the 46-year-old on Buchanan Street on November 9.
Court papers state that Dempster, of the city’s Govan, acted in an aggressive manner and argued with the alleged victim.
It is then alleged that Dempster swore and “discharged a quantity of ammonia or a similar corrosive substance from a bottle” at her.
This is said to have been to the woman’s injury, impairment and to the danger of her life.
Dempster faces a second charge of possession of a quantity of ammonia in a public place in Buchanan Street and elsewhere, unknown to the prosecutor.
Another charge says that Dempster provided false details to the police in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
A final allegation stated Dempster behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards the constables.
It is claimed that she acted in an aggressive manner, shouted, swore, and uttered offensive and derogatory remarks towards them.
Dempster made no plea at a private hearing in Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.
Dempster was remanded into custody and committed for further examination by Sheriff David Hall.
She will appear at court again within the next eight days.
