A suspect is to stand trial next year, accused of murdering a man in his home.

Terence Welsh, 41, allegedly killed Stuart Kennedy at the flat in Ardrossan, Ayrshire on September 10 last year.

Prosecutors claim the 59-year-old was repeatedly struck on the head and body with a knife.

Welsh faces a separate charge of attempting to murder a woman on that date at the same property.

It is claimed she was also struck with a blade, grabbed and pushed out a window, causing her to fall to the ground.

The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Thursday.

Welsh’s lawyer pled not guilty on his behalf.

The solicitor advocate, along with prosecutor Neil McCulloch, agreed a trial could be fixed.

Lord Renucci then set a trial which is scheduled to begin in August 2026.

The case could last around seven days.
