The first pictures of a newly refurbished Glasgow cinema have been released following a £22m rescue from administration.
Empire cinemas collapsed into administration in July last year and jobs across Scotland and England were put on the line.
However, the chain’s Clydebank location was saved in December by the Omniplex Cinema Group in a £22m takeover.
Newly released pictures show the cinema following its refurbishment, with new features such as fully electric reclining seats, sofa beds, and touch screen collection points.
The renovation of the Clydebank location comes in time for the release of Zac Efron’s wrestling drama The Iron Claw, which is released on Friday.
Paul John Anderson, director of the Omniplex Cinema Group said: “We are delighted to kick off our renovation plans in Clydebank, plans which we know will elevate the viewing experience for our customers and allow them to watch films in the ultimate comfort.”
“We know the Clydebank cinema is central to the community, which is why this investment is so important. With the addition of our recline seating and the OmniplexMAXX screens later in the year, we are giving the cinema a new lease of life and cannot wait to see our customers enjoying the best we have to offer.”
Alongside Clydebank, Birmingham, Ipswich and High Wycombe cinemas were kept open and will now be rebranded as Omniplex.
The company says the move is part of its plan to expand across Great Britain and more sites are expected to be announced in 2024.
