Teacher accused of having sex with pupil and threatening to send intimate images to others

A teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a pupil before threatening to send intimate images of the girl to others is to face a disciplinary hearing.

The unnamed teacher, who was employed by Dumfries and Galloway Council at an unnamed school at the time of the allegations, allegedly struck up an inappropriate relationship over social media with a pupil, referred to as Pupil A, between May 2017 and January 2020.

It is claimed that the relationship then became sexual between October 2017 and January 2020, with the teacher offering the pupil gifts, including hotel stays and a Pandora ring.

It is further alleged that during the sexual relationship with the pupil, the teacher received and saved explicit images from the girl.

The teacher is then alleged to have threatened to share the explicit images with others.

It is also alleged that the teacher became controlling towards her, ordering the girl not to disclose their relationship to anyone, telling her that she was not allowed to have a boyfriend and that she had to leave her Snapchat location on at all times.

The teacher is alleged to have interacted with pupils on a personal level on social media between 2017 and 2020.

It is claimed the teacher sent a sexual social media message to another pupil, referred to as Pupil B, stating: “Ffs, I’d be all over you if I was drunk.”

The teacher is also alleged to have made sexual comments on social media to other pupils between 2019 and 2020.

It is alleged that some of the allegations were sexually motivated.

The teacher will face a General Teaching Council hearing over the allegations from July 8 to 15.
