A 17-year-old male has been charged after a woman was assaulted in Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services were called to Argyle Street near the Bank of Scotland branch to a report of a woman being assaulted around 11.30pm on October 1.

A 46-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The area remained cordoned off on Friday with officers standing guard.

Police have now confirmed a 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged.

A spokesperson said: “Around 11.25pm on Thursday, October 1, we were called to a report of a woman assaulted in the Argyle Street area of Glasgow city centre.

“The 46-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

“A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, October 2.

“Enquiries remain ongoing.”
