A teenager has been left with life-threatening injuries, and five cows have died after a car crash in West Dunbartonshire on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the A811 near Gartocharn at around 11.50pm following reports of a BMW striking cows on the loose on the road close to the junction with Old School Road.
A passenger in the car, an 18-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where medical staff have described his condition as life-threatening. There were no other reports of any serious injuries.
Two cows died at the scene while three others were euthanised.
The 22-year-old male driver was arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and released pending further enquiries.
Sergeant Kenny Malaney said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who has any information that could assist our investigation to contact us.
“I would ask anyone who saw the car prior to the crash, or who was driving in the area around the time and may have dash-cam footage, to get in touch.”
Those with information are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3712 of June 28, 2026.
