A teen has been left fighting for his life following a hit-and-run in Port Glasgow.

The 19-year-old man was walking on Ardmore Road near Selkirk Road when he was hit by a car that failed to stop at around 1am on Sunday.

The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

Police are looking to trace the car involved, which is believed to be a dark-coloured Vauxhall Insignia.

Ardmore Road remains closed whilst enquiries are carried out.

Sergeant Jack Swindells, Road Policing Unit, said: “At this time we don’t believe this to be a targeted hit and run. The injured man had been walking home from a night out in Port Glasgow.

“We’d urge the driver of the car to contact the police.

“The area is residential and is a busy road, so it’s possible that other cars travelling on the road will have dashcam footage, or homes will have doorbell cameras, which could have captured helpful footage.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area, so we’d encourage witnesses or those with information to speak to them or call 101 quoting incident number 0188 of Sunday, November 2, 2025. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
