Teen suffers 'serious' head injury after being struck from behind with glass object in Dumbarton social club

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was struck from behind with a glass object in a social club in Dumbarton.

The 18-year old male youth was struck from behind with a glass object whilst leaving the toilets in Dumbarton Harp Social Club on High Street at 10.15pm on Sunday.

He sustained a “serious” head and hand injury and was treated by a woman at the club before being taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley to receive stitches.

Police say they do not have a description of those involved, but are checking CCTV from the club.

Detective Constable Thomas O’Donnell, Clydebank CID, said: “Our enquiries are still at an early stage. Officers are checking CCTV from the club and attempting to contact patrons with regard to who may have witnessed the attack.

“From our information so far, it appears that the teenager was in the toilets of the club and on leaving was struck from behind with a glass object.

“This resulted in some serious injury to his head and hand for which he received stitches.

“We believe there were a few others in the toilets at the time, and so would appeal to them, or indeed any other possible witness, to contact us with any information they may have.

“At the moment we don’t have descriptions of the assailant/assailants, but CCTV should show people entering and leaving the area around that time of the attack.”
