A teenage girl has been charged with an alleged racist assault within a shop on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the premises on Motherwell’s Leven Street after reports of a disturbance at around 5pm.
A 15-year-old girl was charged in connection with shoplifting and assault. There is believed to be a racial element to the alleged incident.
The teen is due to be reported to the authorities.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Saturday, April 26, 2025, we were called to a report of a disturbance within a premises on Leven Street, Motherwell.
“A 15-year-old girl was arrested and charged in connection with shoplifting and an assault.
“She will be reported to the relevant authorities.”
