A teenager who attacked two shop workers in separate incidents has been jailed.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, initially attacked a man at a Sainsbury’s in Glasgow city centre.
Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the boy and three other youths entered the store on October 12, 2025 but were told to leave by the shop worker.
The teenager squared up to the man and pushed him to the ground.
A security guard initially intervened to calm the situation as the shop worker got to his feet.
He went on to chase the youths out of the supermarket with a metal pole.
The other youths then fought with the man, before the teenager punched him.
Prosecutor Ramsay Cunningham said: “The boy retrieved the metal pole and used it to strike him on the body .”
The youths all then fled the scene.
The shop worker was taken to hospital and found to have suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Five days later, the teenager, another boy and a girl entered another Sainsbury’s branch in the city centre.
They were noted to have been causing a disturbance with a hammer.
The girl went on to take the body camera of one of the employees and refused to hand it back before she threw it to the ground.
The teenager and the girl later went on to assault a shop worker.
Mr Cunningham said: “[The man] was struck with a bottle of alcohol and a struggle developed where various blows landed on him.”
The girl later brandished the hammer before repeatedly striking the man on the head and body.
The victim was taken to hospital and found to have suffered a fractured nose and bruising to his back.
The teenager pleaded guilty to assaulting the first shop worker to his severe injury and impairment.
He also admitted to assaulting the second shop worker, resulting in his severe injury.
The sentence was deferred until next month, pending background reports by Sheriff Andrew McIntyre.
The sheriff said: “This was horrific and cowardly.
“I am concerned about the risk you pose to the public, and it is quite right you should be remanded in custody.”
