A teenage woman has been left with life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash on the M80.
The collision happened on the northbound carriageway between junctions three and four near Moodiesburn at around 7pm.
The incident involved a silver Volkswagen Golf, which left the road, and a black Mercedes A200.
The 18-year-old female passenger from the Volkswagen was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. Her condition has been described as life-threatening.
The 20-year-old male driver was also taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not described as life threatening.
Neither of the occupants of the Mercedes were injured.
The road was closed northbound for around three hours to allow for an investigation at the scene.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to get in touch.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision as well.
“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2748 of June 28.”
