A mother with her ten-year-old daughter have been threatened and forced to hand over her car to two men in a car-jacking in North Lanarkshire.
The 38-year-old woman and girl are uninjured but have been left “badly shaken” by the incident which took place at around 9.10pm on Thursday in King Street, Kilsyth.
They were sitting in the red Vauxhall Astra at the time when two figures approached and opened the driver’s door.
The men threatened the woman and demanded she hand over the car to them.
A short time after, the stolen car was seen driving south on Howe Road (B802) at the roundabout at Auchinstarry.
One of the men is described as around 6ft. tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a grey, long-sleeved top and grey jogging trousers. He spoke with a local accent and had a covering over his face to conceal his identity.
Detective constable Scott Archer said: “This was a very frightening experience for the woman and her daughter, to be subjected to such an incident is unacceptable and it’s vital we trace the two men responsible.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time who may have seen the men or the incident to contact us.
“Similarly, if anyone with recording equipment or dashcam, please review your footage and bring anything significant to our attention.”
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3490 of December 7, 2023. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and give the information anonymously.
