Thieves stole a man’s car as he browsed the forecourt of a dealership.

The incident occurred in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, at around 3.20pm on Thursday.

The man had parked his silver Renault Megane near to a car showroom in Glasgow Road.

While looking into the forecourt, the thieves struck.

The victim attempted to stop them, but was unsuccessful.

The car was later found burnt out in Dunure Drive, Rutherglen.

Investigating officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from the area and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective constable John Law said: “I am appealing to people who were in Glasgow Road around the time of the incident for any information.

“It’s usually a busy road with traffic so I would ask people with dashcams to check their footage as it’s possible they have captured images which could assist our investigation.

“In particular, I would appeal to local residents in Dunure Drive to consider if they saw the car or the suspects.

“Any small piece of information could prove significant as we piece together details of what has happened.”
