Thousands of homes in Paisley faced disruption to their water supplies after a mains pipe burst and flooded a road.
Scottish Water engineers worked through the night to repair the fault, which was identified on Sunday afternoon and affected 7,000 homes in the PA2 postcode.
The town’s Espedair Street was closed due to flooding before reopening around 8.10am on Monday.
Engineers carried out repairs to the 30-inch strategic water main overnight.
Residents were warned that it could take several hours for the network to fully recharge and for normal supplies to be restored for all properties.
A spokesperson from Scottish Water said: “We were made aware of a 30-inch burst main at Neilston Road, Paisley, in the afternoon of Sunday, December 15.
“Teams worked throughout the night to make a complex repair to the strategic main, completing the work at approximately 5am this morning, Monday, December 16.
“Through thorough investigations, teams also found and repaired a broken valve at Espedair Street, this helped minimise the number of properties affected.
“Approximately 7,000 properties were affected by this incident, and we apologise to any customers who experienced an interruption to their normal supply.”
