Three officers injured after eggs and bricks thrown at police during disturbance in Priesthill

Three police officers have been injured after eggs and bricks were thrown during a disturbance outside a house in Glasgow.

Police were called to Priesthill Road in Priesthill around 6.55pm on Sunday after a group of people began protesting outside a property.

The occupants were removed from the house while the crowd, some of whom were wearing face coverings, refused to leave the area and became increasingly hostile.

Three officers were injured when objects, including eggs and bricks, were thrown at them, and three police vehicles were damaged. One has been taken out of use.

Police Scotland said that it was evident from the behaviour of some of those involved that they were “not there to protest peacefully”.

It added that misinformation had been circulated online prior to the incident.

Local area commander, chief inspector William Campbell said: “The disorder seen last night is unacceptable, and I would like to reassure the local community that our investigation is continuing to identify those responsible and take the appropriate action.

“I am aware of online misinformation being circulated last night, and I would urge the public to behave responsibly around social media, particularly with information being shared and the response to what is read or seen online.

“We continue to review online and video footage of the incident, and I would appeal to anyone who has any footage of the incident to pass it to officers.

“Additional officers are in the area, and anyone with concerns can approach these officers.
