A thresher Shark has been caught on camera leaping from the water off the west coast of Scotland.
The footage was captured by those on board the Greenock-based Yacht Candubhlah, which was sailing in the Inner Hebrides south of Gigha on August 10.
The predator is seen propelling itself out of the water into the air before breaching the water for a second time.
Threshers jump out of the water for a number of reasons, including stunning prey and parasite removal. It is also thought that breaching may be used as a form of communication.
The sharks tend to travel to UK waters during the summer months, however, it is uncommon to see them near Scotland.
