Train services bound for Glasgow cancelled during rush hour after ‘fault’iStock

Train services bound for Glasgow have been cancelled during rush hour due to a “fault”.

ScotRail confirmed commuters are facing delays and cancellations on Monday morning after a fault was identified on the line to Gourock.

A number of services after 7am were cancelled including the 7.35am service from Glasgow Central and the 7.47am, 8.26am and 8.56am services from Gourock.

National Rail said the disruption to commuters could last until 11am and some services may terminate at Greenock Central.

ScotRail posted on X: “We’ve got an issue with a train at Gourock which is causing some cancellations to services here.

“Teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can and we will provide a further update once we have more information on this.

“We have ticket acceptance in place with McGills buses between Gourock and Port Glasgow, just show your valid ticket or Smart card to the driver when boarding the bus to travel.”

National Rail said in a statement: “A fault on a train at Gourock means all lines are blocked.

“Services will be cancelled or revised to run between Glasgow Central and Greenock Central only.”
