The first day of Scotland’s biggest music festival has kicked off in Glasgow amid a major heatwave.

TRNSMT got underway on Friday with 50 Cent set to take the Glasgow Green stage to close out day one to thousands of delighted fans.

The American rapper’s headline slot is his first appearance in Scotland since 2023.

Also taking to the green on Friday will be The Script, indie rock band Wet Leg and rapper Schoolboy Q. Glasgow band Twin Atlantic will also feature.

Festival-goers have been urged to stay hydrated and bring sunscreen, as a heatwave will sweep the country throughout the three-day event.

Forecasters have predicted weather of up to 26C on Friday, 29C on Saturday, and 27C on Sunday.

People are being urged to use high-factor sunscreen, stay hydrated, and be mindful of the risk of heatstroke.

Those making their way to the festival have managed to avoid major transport disruption after strikes set to shut Glasgow’s subway during the TRNSMT music festival were called off.

Following an offer by SPT, strike action from Unite the Union was suspended as members backed the new pay, terms and conditions deal on Thursday.

ScotRail has also put on extra trains on key routes, including Glasgow Queen Street High Level and Edinburgh Waverley via Falkirk High; Glasgow Queen Street Low Level and Edinburgh Waverley via Bathgate; Glasgow Central and East Kilbride; and Glasgow Central and Ayr.

The new site map reveals that the East Entrance is now for accessible ticket holders only, and all general admission ticket holders must enter through the West Entrance.

VIP ticket holders are asked to arrive through the VIP entrance as they have done in previous years.
