Two charged and cocaine worth over £40,000 seized after police raids

During the operation a quantity of cocaine with an approximate street value of £48,000 was recovered, alongside over £1,000 in cash.

Officers have seized controlled drugs worth over £40,000 after a number of properties were raided in Lanarkshire.

Warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Cleland and Wishaw on Friday as part of an investigation into serious and organised crime.

During the operation a quantity of cocaine with an approximate street value of £48,000 was recovered, alongside over £1,000 in cash.

A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.

They were both due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff court on Monday. A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Detective sergeant Vicky Shanley at Lanarkshire division serious and organised crime, acquisitive and interventions said: “We are determined to protect the public from harmful criminality by disrupting sale of illegal substances and preventing them from being circulated on the streets of our community.
