Two people were arrested during an orange walk parade in Glasgow.

Officers say they made two arrests and issued three fixed penalty notices for alleged assault and disorder as thousands of people marched in the city on Saturday.

Several streets around the city centre were closed off for the event, which saw bands parading with music and banners before gathering at Glasgow Green.

A woman, 31, was arrested in connection with alleged acts of disorder during the parade. She will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

A 21-year-old man, who was not connected with the parade, was arrested in connection with allegedly obstructing police officers and on an outstanding warrant.

Two men were issued with fixed penalty notices for assault, while a woman received a fixed penalty notice for disorder.

The annual walk is organised by the County Grand Orange Lodge of Glasgow.

The route for the parade was different this year due to a number of works going on around the city centre.

Superintendent Natalie Carr said: “A proportionate policing plan was in place, and we worked with a range of partners to ensure public safety and minimise disruption to the wider community.

“A 31-year-old woman was arrested in connection with acts of disorder during the parade. She will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Two men were issued with fixed penalty notices for assault and a woman was also issued with a fixed penalty notice for disorder.

“Additionally, a 21-year-old man not connected with the parade was arrested in connection with obstructing officers and an outstanding warrant.

“I would like to thank the vast majority of the participants, and the wider public, who engaged positively and behaved responsibly throughout.”
