A ‘number of people’ have been injured in two separate collisions each involving two cars on the A8.
Emergency services were called to crashes near Finlaystone Country Estate close to Langbank as four cars were involved in two separate crashes at around 6.30am on Friday, January 19.
Officers confirmed the westbound carriageway of the busy road from Port Glasgow was reduced to one lane but has now reopened.
The vehicles are being recovered and police warned drivers to expect delays as a ‘number of people’ were left with injuries.
One person was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Motorists in Inverclyde are being asked to take care on the roads this morning due to icy conditions.
“Emergency services are in attendance at two separate collisions on the A8 near to Finlaystone Country Estate, each involving two cars.
“A number of people have been injured and the westbound carriageway is reduced to one lane while the vehicles are recovered.
“Delays are to be expected.
“Please reduce your speed, maintain a good distance between the car in front and allow extra time for your journey.”
