Two men have been jailed after another was stabbed within his own home during a murder-bid robbery in Renfrewshire.
The victim of the attack was treated for deep stab wounds to his stomach and nearly lost his life following the invasion that took place within his Paisley flat in 2019.
Personal items belonging to the 44-year-old were also stolen during the incident that took place on Fairway Avenue in February last year.
At the High Court in Glasgow on Friday 40-year-old James Weir, was sentenced to 11 years behind bars after being convicted of attempted murder.
His co-accused Gerard Tracy, 37, was jailed for five and a half after being convicted of robbery and assault.
Speaking after the sentencing was handed out Detective Sergeant Nicola Wake, Paisley CID, said: “This was a despicable act against a man who was brutally assaulted and nearly lost his life within his own home, the rest of his life will likely be impacted from the injuries he sustained.
“My team carried out a lengthy investigation and worked hard to bring both offenders to justice.
“The sentencing of James Weir and Gerard Tracy demonstrates that police will do everything they can to identify individuals and ensure they are brought before the courts.”
