Police officers injured in 'hit and run' as vehicle occupants flee scene

The two officers were taken to hospital for treatment following the incident, while the occupants of the other vehicle made off on foot and are yet to be traced.

Two police officers were taken to hospital after their vehicle was struck while attending a disturbance in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were responding to a disturbance at a property on Deveron Crescent in Hamilton at around 9.35pm on Wednesday when a police vehicle was struck by another vehicle.

The two officers inside suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital to be assessed.

Police said the occupants of the car made off on foot after abandoning the vehicle.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a disturbance at a property on Deveron Crescent in Hamilton shortly after 9.35pm on Wednesday, April 17.

“A police vehicle was struck by another vehicle while attending the scene.

“The two police officers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment.

“The vehicle involved was then abandoned and the occupants made off on foot.

“They are yet to be traced and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
