Two people have been taken to hospital after a three-car crash closed part of the M8.
Emergency services were called to junction 7a of the motorway, near Shawhead, after a three-car collision at around 10.25am on Saturday.
Lanes two and three were closed eastbound while emergency services responded to the crash.
Two people were taken to Wishaw General Hospital. Their current condition is unknown.
Police confirmed that one man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.25am on Saturday, 9 December, 2023, officers were called to a report of a three-vehicle crash on the M8 near junction 7a.
“Emergency services attended and two people were taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital.
“One man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence.”
It is understood all lanes have now reopened. Posting the latest update, Traffic Scotland said: “All lanes have now re-opened on the M8 at J7A following an earlier collision.”
