Two teenagers have been charged after a fire at an electrical substation led to 500 properties being left without power.

Emergency services were called to reports of a bike on fire on Taransay Street in Glasgow around 10.30pm on April 30.

The blaze then spread to an electrical substation before being extinguished by firefighters.

Around 500 properties were left without power while work was undertaken to repair the damage.

Two males, aged 15 and 16, have been arrested and charged and are due to appear in court at a later date.

Sergeant Clark said: “This incident had a significant impact on the area and I’d like to thank the local community for their patience and assistance during our enquires.

“Such reckless acts will not be tolerated and we’ll fully investigate all reports to identify those responsible and take appropriate action.”
