Two teenagers are in hospital following a one-vehicle crash on the M80 during the early hours of Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the motorway heading northbound near to Cumbernauld at around 1.50am on October 4.
Ambulance crews transported an 18-year-old woman and 17-year-old girl to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
Officers arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the incident who has been released whilst police carry out an investigation.
One lane on the M80 remains closed as enquiries continue.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.50am on Friday, October 4, 2024, we were called to a report of a one-vehicle crash on the M80 northbound near Cumbernauld.
“Emergency services attended and an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
“A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further enquiries.
“One lane remains closed while investigations are carried out and anyone with any information or who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact police quoting reference 0193 of October 4, 2024.”
