Parking at a hospital in East Kilbride will be temporarily reduced due to power generators taking up space in the car park following an outage.
University Hospital Hairmyres was impacted by a power cut on Monday, with some patients’ care disrupted.
NHS Lanarkshire has confirmed that full normal services, including planned surgery, have returned to the hospital, but warned that back-up generators are limiting parking spaces.
A statement shared on social media said: “Full normal services, including planned surgery, have returned to University Hospital Hairmyres after power issues.
“Additional back-up generators are taking up a large number of parking spaces. We are sorry for the inconvenience for those travelling to the hospital by car.
“Our hospitals have been under pressure this week due to the power issues and A&E attendances have been high.
“We are issuing separate messages reminding the public of the alternatives for non-emergency care.”
The hospital issued an update on Wednesday afternoon, stating that staff were being treated to “aggression and unacceptable behaviour”.
A spokesperson said: “Thank you to all staff at University Hospital Hairmyres who continue to work tirelessly following the recent power outage.
“Unfortunately, some staff have been subjected to aggression and unacceptable behaviour. We ask for support in treating our staff with kindness & respect.”
