Police ScotlandA van driver has been named by police following a fatal crash in Dumfries and Galloway.
The crash occurred on the B7020 near Lochmaben, just west of Lockerbie, at around 10.20am on Sunday.
It involved a single vehicle – a white Ford Transit van.
Emergency services, including police and ambulance, attended the scene where the driver was pronounced dead.
Police have now named the man as 66-year-old William Laurie, also known as Billy.
The B7020 was closed for several hours while a crash investigation was taking place.
Police are continuing to appeal to the public for information.
Sergeant Lindsey Tait said: “Our thoughts are with Billy’s family, and they have asked for privacy at this time.
“Our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
“If you were driving in the area please check any dash-cam footage to see if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”
