Vandals target LGBTQ venue with homophobic graffiti

The Polo Lounge bar in Glasgow was targeted by vandals on Tuesday.

Police are investigating after a popular LGBTQ venue was targeted by homophobic vandals in Glasgow.

Offensive messages were found to be scrawled on to the door of the Polo Lounge bar on the city’s Wilson Street on Tuesday night.

The homophobic graffiti, which included slogans from football hooligan group ICF, Northern Irish paramilitary terrorist organisation the UDA and referenced Austrian child abuser Josef Fritzel, left remarks such as “p**** out” alongside graphic imagery.

Officers are now investigating the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We can confirm that vandalism to premises on Wilson Street in Glasgow was reported to police shortly after 6.20pm on Tuesday.

“Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage.

“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
