Police are appealing for information as they look to trace the person responsible.

A 41-year-old has been treated for lacerations after being attacked by a man wearing a balaclava in Alexandria.

The serious assault took place in the Bonhill area at around 9.15pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the block of flats on Main Street, and the injured man was taken to hospital in Paisley for treatment.

Police are now investigating the incident and have appealed for information.

The suspect is described as having a slim build and was wearing black clothing with a black balaclava.

Detective Constable Darren Boag said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish more information on the circumstances surrounding this incident and details of the man responsible.

“I would urge anyone who was in the Main Street area between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Thursday evening, who witnessed anything suspicious to please contact us.

“I would also ask anyone with dashcam or personal footage to please review it and get in touch if it holds anything relevant.”

Information can be passed to officers through 101.
