Vulnerable man, 36, attacked and robbed on street

An investigation has been launched after a vulnerable man was attacked and robbed on a street in North Lanarkshire.

The assault took place between 7.45pm and 8.30pm on Main Street near to Locket Yett View in Bellshill on Thursday.

A 36-year-old man had his bag stolen during the incident and has been left “very shaken and distressed.”

Detective Sergeant Chris Norton, Lanarkshire CID, said: “This was a cowardly and unprovoked attack on a vulnerable man.

“He did not require hospital treatment but was left very shaken and distressed following this incident.

“Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch.

“If there is anyone with private CCTV or doorbell footage or drivers in the area with dash-cam footage we urge you to contact us.”

Those with information are urged to contact  Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3613 of August 14.
