iStockA canal near a West Dunbartonshire shopping centre was searched after a firearm was reportedly spotted in the water.
Emergency services were called to the Clyde and Forth Canal near Clydebank’s Kilbowie Road following the discovery on Wednesday evening.
A search of the water was carried out, and a BB gun was recovered from the canal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.50pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, police received a report of a possible firearm within the water at the Clyde and Forth Canal near Kilbowie Road.
“A water search was carried out and a BB gun was recovered.”
