Road restrictions are coming into force as Scotland makes final preparations for Donald Trump’s arrival on Friday evening.
The US President is expected to board Air Force 1 at around 1pm on Friday for a five-day visit.
The visit is officially private, rather than presidential, but Trump is expected to meet with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and First Minister John Swinney while he’s in Scotland.
Trump’s visit is likely to spark protests across the country over the weekend, with police working on the assumption that there will be demonstrations in Ayrshire, Aberdeenshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Tight security measures are being put in place ahead of the visit, including road closures and restrictions across South Ayrshire – especially around Turnberry, Maidens and Prestwick Airport.
This includes a protected perimeter around Trump’s golf resort.
Ten roads will be closed completely, and eight more will have waiting and loading prohibitions in place over the weekend.
Road closures include:
- Turnberry Lodge Road
- Lodge Road
- Maidens Road
- Station Road (Turnberry)
- Shanter Road
- Seabank View
- Kirksowald Road
- Harbour Road
- Baineshill Drive
- Sandyford Road
Prohibition of Waiting and Loading restrictions include:
- Station Road (Monkton)
- Kilmarnock Road
- Baird Road
- Newdykes Shawfarm Road
- Monkton Road
- Mcintyre Road
- Elvis Street
- Welsh Road
Airspace restrictions

Temporary airspace restrictions are in place at locations including Turnberry, Prestwick and Aberdeenshire ranging from Thursday, July 24, until July 29.
Police Scotland has warned drone operators to check if it is legal to fly in their area.
