Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a car was robbed while parked at a popular hillwalking spot in South Lanarkshire.

Officers were called to a report of a car window being smashed and a bag being stolen from a parked car at Tinto Hill car park around 2pm on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area around the time and who may have dash cam footage which could assist to contact them.

“We would like to remind visitors to the local hills to keep all valuables out of sight.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2122 of April 21, 2026.”
