A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a crash on the A736 in East Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called around 7.10am on Friday to the crash involving a blue Ford Mondeo on the A736 Lochlibo Road at its junction with the B778 Bloak Road.

The 23-year-old female driver of the car was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff describe her condition as critical.

The road was closed to allow for collision investigations to take place.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “I am appealing to any road users who were on the A736 around the time of the incident to contact us with any information.

“In particular, if you have a dash-cam, please check your footage for any images which could assist our enquiries.

“Any small piece of information could assist us in establishing the full circumstances of the collision.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0531 of Friday, September 11, 2026.
