A woman has died after she was knocked down by a car on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to Brambling Road in Coatbridge at around 5.20pm on November 9 following reports of a collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa and a pedestrian.

The 57-year-old female pedestrian was transported to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the Corsa did not suffer any injuries following the incident.

The road was closed for around seven hours while investigations were carried out.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died at this very difficult time.

“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information that could assist to please get in touch.

“I would also urge anyone in the area with dash-cam or ring doorbell to check their footage and pass anything of note on to us.”

Those with information regarding the collision are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2647 of November 9.
