A woman has been assaulted during a “terrifying” attempted robbery in a nature park.
The 22-year-old victim was targeted within the Old Mine Nature Park in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, between 7.30pm and 8pm on Saturday, April 25.
As four men approached the woman, one of the suspects assaulted her before trying to steal her handbag.
The victim ran off towards New Edinburgh Road, leaving the men within the park.
Police said she was not injured in the attack.
The suspects – believed to be in their early to mid-20s and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 9in – were all wearing tracksuits.
Detective constable Scott Johnston said: “This was a terrifying experience for the woman involved who was left shaken and distressed.
“Officers are reviewing CCTV footage in the area to help trace the persons responsible for this.
“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around this time and saw anyone matching the descriptions or anything suspicious to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
