A woman has been arrested and charged after confectionery worth more than £1,500 was stolen from supermarkets in Glasgow.
Police said ten separate shoplifting incidents took place in the city centre between June 15 and November 16, during which various sweets and chocolates were stolen from multiple stores.
Following inquiries by local officers working alongside the Retail Crime Taskforce, the 25-year-old was arrested on Tuesday.
She is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Constable Andrew McCrystal, of Glasgow’s Retail Crime Taskforce, said: “Any incident of shoplifting, regardless of the items stolen or their total value, is treated with the utmost importance by our divisional policing teams and the Retail Crime Taskforce, and we’ll utilise all resources at our disposal to bring offenders to justice.
“We remain committed to tackling retail crime in all its forms and ensuring those who work within our stores feel confident and safe to go about their duties and report any crimes that take place on site.”
