Woman charged after crash closes Clyde Tunnel southbound

A woman has been charged after a crash closed the Clyde Tunnel to southbound traffic.

Glasgow City Council confirmed the carriageway was shut at around 3pm on Tuesday following a single-vehicle crash on the A739.

One lane was closed while traffic was diverted via the Govan Road off-ramp while emergency services attended the scene.

The road later reopened.

A 35-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.50pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, officers received a report of a single vehicle crash at the Clyde Tunnel, Glasgow.

“One lane was closed and later reopened.

“A 35-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a road traffic offence. She has been released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.”
