A woman has been charged in connection with a fatal crash which resulted in the death of a male pedestrian.
Officers were called to the scene of a crash on the A721 Bellshill Road at the junction with Logans Road in Motherwell at around 9.10pm on Sunday, March 17.
A 68-year-old male pedestrian was struck by a white Ford Puma and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died four days later on Thursday, March 21.
The driver of the Puma, a 24-year-old woman, stopped the car before being struck from behind by a blue Vauxhall Corsa.
No one else was injured during the incident.
The 24-year-old female driver of the Ford Puma has now been charged in connection with the crash and a report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 24-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal crash in Motherwell.
“Around 9.10pm on Sunday, March 17, 2024, we received a report of a crash involving a 68-year-old male pedestrian and a white Ford Puma on the A721 Bellshill Road at the junction with Logans Road.
“The pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died on Thursday, March 21.
“The 24-year-old female driver of the Ford Puma will be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
