Woman charged with attempted murder after teenage boy left in hospital

A 41-year-old woman is due in court on Monday in connection with the Glasgow city centre attack.

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after a teenager was left in hospital following a serious assault in Glasgow.

At around 9.30pm on Friday, police were called to the Stockwell Street area of the town.

Officers attended and a 16-year-old boy was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

His current condition has been described as serious.

Police confirmed that a 41-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder.

She is due to appear in court on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30pm on Friday, August 4, police were called to a report of a 16-year-old male youth seriously assaulted in Stockwell Street, Glasgow.

“Officers attended and he was taken by Ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where hospital staff describe his condition as serious.

“A 41-year-old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the attempted murder. She is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, 7 August. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
