Woman dies after being found injured after ‘falling from car’ on A701 road at St Ann’s Police Scotland

A woman who was left injured on a Dumfries and Galloway road six days ago has died in hospital.

Michelle Martin, from Moffat, was found on the A701 near St Ann’s at Lockerbie at around 1.45am on Saturday.

Emergency services attended and the 48-year-old was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she was pronounced dead on Thursday.

Police are investigating and believe that she may have fallen from a moving vehicle.

Officers have appealed for information in a bid to establish the circumstances.

Detective inspector Graeme Robertson, of Dumfries CID, said: “Our thoughts are with Michelle’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to police, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information should contact police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0336 of June 18.”

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
