A pedestrian has died at the scene after being struck by a car in North Lanarkshire.
The 41-year-old woman was struck by a silver Ford Fiesta around 9.30pm in the Crossgates area of Bellshill on Friday evening.
Emergency services attended the scene, however the woman was pronounced dead a short time later.
The 36-year-old driver of the Fiesta was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and was later released pending further enquiries.
The road was closed and re-opened around 4am on Saturday morning.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We are asking anyone who saw what happened to get in touch. If you have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation then please contact us.”
