Woman in hospital after being struck by car outside Lidl in Baillieston

A woman has been left in hospital after being struck by a car outside a Lidl car park in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the main street area of Baillieston at around 10.15am on Saturday, after a 67-year-old woman was struck by a green hatchback vehicle exiting the car park.

The woman was taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary where medical staff describe her condition as serious but stable.

Officers investigating are now appealing for the driver of the vehicle involved to get in touch as enquiries into the incident continue.

Constable McConnachie of Shettleston Police Station said: “The incident was reported to police on Sunday, 16 April, so unfortunately, we did not get the chance to speak to people who were in the area the time and who came to the aid of the woman.

“Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. We are checking CCTV and have been making local enquiries but would ask anyone who saw what happened or who has any information about the incident to come forward.

“We would be keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the car park or street around that time.

“All we are aware of at the moment is that the car was green in colour and a hatchback. Whether the driver was aware that they had struck the woman has still to be confirmed, so we’d ask the driver of the car described to get in touch.
