A woman who was killed in a crash on a country road in Dumfries and Galloway has been named by police.
Helen Flannighan died after a Suzuki S-Cross was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf on the A714 road near Newton Stewart around 9.35am on Wednesday.
Emergency services attended and the 65-year-old, who was a passenger in the Suzuki, died at the scene.
The 72-year-old male driver was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The 34-year-old female driver of the Golf was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
Sergeant Lindsey Tait said: “Our thoughts remain with Helen’s family at this extremely difficult time.
“Our enquiries into the crash continue and I’d like to thank those who have come forward with information.
“I’d urge anyone who hasn’t yet spoken to police and witnessed the crash or has dash-cam footage which could assist us, to get in touch.”
