A woman has been taken to hospital following a motorbike crash in South Lanarkshire.

Police were called to the scene of the crash on the A725 at Blantyre on Wednesday afternoon around 3.35pm.

The road near to Douglas Street was closed and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended the scene.

The rider of the motorbike, a 58-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to hospital.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a report of a crash involving a motorbike on the A725 near Douglas Street, Blantyre around 3.35pm on Wednesday, September 28.

“A 58-year-old woman, the rider of the motorbike, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw.

“The road was reopened around 5.20pm.”
