A woman has been seriously injured after being knocked down by a quad bike on a country road in Dumfries.

The 65-year-old pedestrian was on the U205n, Arbigland road, near Kirkbean Village Hall, around 9.30am on Wednesday when she was struck.

The woman was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The male rider of the red Honda TRV quad bike was uninjured.

Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

Constable Callum Kingstree said: “Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and I’m appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

“I’d also ask drivers with dash-cam footage from the area at the time to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”
