A woman has been left with serious injuries after a crash between a van and a car in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency crews were called to the crash on Carlisle Road, Hamilton, at around 11.45pm on Saturday.

The crash involved a white Fiat Ducato van and a black Nissan Micra.

The driver of the Nissan, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.

Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen what happened to get in touch.

“Likewise, if you were driving in the area at the time and have dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries, please make contact.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4306 of Saturday, July 22.
